Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
When inhaled through the mouth and nose, nitrous oxide calms patients, though they stay awake and able to communicate. The sedative also tends to increase pain threshold, lessen anxiety, make time pass more quickly and reduce gag reflex.
Oral Sedation
Your dentist can prescribe oral sedatives in liquid or pill form, to be taken orally before a dental appointment. Though this sedative leaves you awake for the procedure, it produces a calming effect designed to significantly relax you.
General Anesthesia at the Weyburn Hospital
We offer the option for patients to undergo their treatment under general anaesthesia at Weyburn Hospital. This is most often undertaken when a highly complex or lengthy treatment is required, or for children with extensive dental needs.
